Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos was a misfire in a lot of ways. The movie was delayed for a lot of months, with reshoots and release date changes, spiralling the budget of the film. The situation was further complicated by the real-life break-up of the lead actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. When the movie came out, people didn't show much affinity to its musical genre. Moreover, it was Ranbir Kapoor's first production and his father, Rishi Kapoor, lambasted Anurag publicly for how the movie turned.
The saddest part is Jagga Jasoos wasn't a bad movie, just overlooked for what its real potential was. Anyway, it looks like the director, who previously made Gangster and Barfi, has left the debacle of his pet project behind and is prepping up for his next. As per a scoop by Bollywood Hungama, the movie would be a multi-starrer and features an enviable ensemble. It would be the sequel to Basu's Life In A Metro.
As per the same report, Basu has reportedly cast Saif Ali Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Sonakshi Sinha, Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and the young Ishaan Khatter in the film. There were other reports that Kareena Kapoor Khan would have a role in the film, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series is reportedly producing the film. There is no official confirmation on this yet, so we have to wait and watch.
The first Life in a Metro starred Dharmendra, Nafisha Ali, Shilpa Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja and Sharman Joshi.
