Veteran actress Geeta Kapoor breathed her last on Sunday. Her last rites were performed by her daughter Aradhya and her sisters in a hush-hush manner. The Pakeezah actress was kept in an old age home by her son Raja, who reportedly beat her up for stopping him for his philandering ways. She hoped for her son to take her back home but he never showed up till date. In fact, he did not even turn up for her last rites, reports India Today. It was just last year when Geeta Kapoor was shifted to the old age home by the son who ran away without paying bills.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit and producer Ramesh Taurani were the ones who took the initiative to take care of the celeb. In her last days too, the filmmakers were by her side. However, they were not informed about the last rites by Kapoor's family. Pandit wrote on Twitter, "The daughter & sisters of late actress #GeetaKapoor Ji performed her last rites, late last night. Even though Dr. Tripathi, Old Age Home sisters, #ArchanaShourie & I requested them to inform us so that we, who stood by her pain, are part of her last journey. But they didn't. Sad!"
Geeta Kapoor, who is best known for her role as Kamal Amrohi's second wife in the 1972 film Pakeezah kept on saying 'Mera Raja ayega' (My Raja will come) till her last breath.
