Starting her career in the early 1940s, Lata Mangeshkar made her way to Guinness World Records List as the most recorded artiste in playback singing. According to some reports, she has recorded thousands of songs, with figures going as large as 50,000.
For her major contribution in the field of Indian Cinema and singing, Lata Mangeshkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award. She is also conferred with three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and many more.
