Laila Majnu, as the name goes, is a pure romantic film, which also has the distinction of being produced by Imtiaz Ali, the man known for his bitter-sweet movies on love. Laila Majnu, based on the popular folklore of eternal love, is, however, directed by his brother, Sajid Ali. Ekta Kapoor will be co-producing the movie, along with Ali, while the movie stars newcomers Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri.
Imtiaz Ali has a keen sense of music so we expect the music of Laila Majnu to be a chartbuster. For Laila Majnu's music, the makers have opted for the singer-composer Joi Barua to create some amazing tunes. So we have O Meri Laila, a lively but beautiful romantic track that uses the exuberance of the newcomers and the gorgeous locales to the best effect. Irshad Kamil has written the lyrics for the song. Atif Aslam has sung O Meri Laila, along with Jyotica Tangri, which will definitely be among one of his better songs in Bollywood.

Earlier in a video released to promote the film, Imtiaz Ali revealed why a movie on Laila Majnu is needed by this generation. He had said, "This movie has no stars. The lead actors are new and do not belong to any filmy family. A person who thinks more from brain and less from the heart, I don’t how he will like the movie. But if you are a little mad, you have your own opinions, you are not perfect, can make mistakes and can fall in love, then you must watch this film as this movie has characters like you. Both Laila and Majnu are just like you. This story has less logic and more passion. Even the people who have made this film are themselves quite mad. So, if you are passionate, you will see yourself in this film." Laila Majnu will release on September 7.
