If talent is the only requisite that takes you ahead, then Kunal Kemmu should have been at the top of the box office game. He is a bundle of talent, a fine actor who had shown his brilliance right from the time he was a child artiste in a few movies of the '90s. Some of his popular movies of that era were Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, Naaraaz, Dushman, Raja Hindustani, Bhai and of course, Zakhm. Inaaya Naumi Kemmu's Adorable 'Biker Baby' Pose With Dad Kunal Kemmu is the Cutest Thing You'll See Today.
Then in 2005, Kunal Kemmu made his debut as the lead actor in Mohit Suri's Zakhm. His performance in the film was noticed and several big offers came his way. However, some really bad movies almost derailed his acting career as the leading man. Personal life-wise, Kunal Kemmu is in a happy place, having married his love, Soha Ali Khan, and being a father to a lovely daughter, Inaaya Naumi. However, career-wise, Kunal's most popular work is restricted to his involvement in the Golmaal franchise. Which is disappointing, since the recent Kalank has shown us how the actor can make good of any role and even stand out in an ensemble. Kalank Movie Review: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Kemmu Shine in a Beautifully-Framed but Dull Love Saga Set During the Partition.
On the occasion of his birthday, we look at the five best performances of Kunal Kemmu in a career spanning three decades.
Zakhm
Kunal Kemmu was quite a popular child artiste in the '90s, where his best work was in Mahesh Bhatt's Zakhm. Ajay Devgn may have won his first National Award for the Best Actor in the film, but it was the young Kunal who gave the best performance in the film.
Kalyug
Years later, it was Mahesh Bhatt himself who launched Kunal Kemmu as the leading man in his production. Kalyug has Kunal give a fine turn as a young man seeking out a porn ring that destroyed his life and killed his wife.
99
As an adult, Kunal Kemmu's best film, sadly, didn't work at the box office. Directed by Raj and DK, 99 is one of the best black comedies made in Bollywood. Based on the infamous match-fixing scandal, 99 features terrific turns from Kunal Kemmu, Boman Irani, Mahesh Manjrekar and Soha Ali Khan.
Go Goa Gone
If 99 was Kunal Kemmu's best film in his career, then this horror comedy has his best performance. As the dope-loving, womanising Hardik, Kunal Kemmu has the best lines in the movie and steals every scene he is in, even from the more-experienced (and future brother-in-law) Saif Ali Khan. We are really looking forward to seeing what he is upto if the sequel is getting made as promised.
Kalank
This much-hyped Karan Johar production was one of the biggest disappointments of 2019. And yet Kunal Kemmu's performance as the Islamic hardliner is one of the very few bright spots in the period drama.
