Popular TV actor Amita Udgata, best known for her role in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya passed away on Tuesday night due to lung failure, as per the media reports. Amita was admitted to Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital on Friday, the in the week before. Later she was kept on life support. The last rites of the actor will be duly performed on Thursday it was reported.

After beginning her acting career in 1965 with plays, Ugdata She then moved to the small screen. She featured in various sitcoms including Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, Maharana Pratap, Baba Aiso Varr Dhundo and Doli Armaanon Ki. She also featured in movies such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Sarbjit and Konakana Sen Sharma's Amu.

The official Twitter handle of Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) confirmed Amita’s death with a condolence tweet.

Amita's character Amma in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya won her much fame. Her lead character in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi as Dev’s grand aunt and fetched her much fame.
