Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji's iconic movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (KKHH) has turned 26. Filmmaker Karan Johar, who debuted as a director with this film, put up a note on Instagram celebrating the movie that began his career as a filmmaker and started the revival of his father Yash Johar's company Dharma Productions. KKHH has fond memories for each one of us who were adolescents back then. From King Khan's shiny 'COOL' necklace and T-shirts as Rahul to the gorgeous chiffon sarees worn by Kajol as Anjali when she decides to transform from her tomboy era, everything about the film is vivid in our minds. Here is a lowdown on five things we will always love about the timeless movie - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

1. Aesthetics at a Whole New Level
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai packed with emotions of romance, friendship, heartbreak, longing, reunion and the concept of 'true love lasts for a lifetime', and sealed its place in cinematic history. But its aesthetics was what set the film apart. While fans were aware of how late filmmaker Yash Chopra presented his heroines and the use of gorgeous locales in his movies, very few films defined aesthetics like KKHH at the time. Many will remember how fans were curious to know if the shoot had happened in a real college. The brightly painted walls, stylish teachers and amazing annual day function made us dream of what we wanted in our institutes of higher education. ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ Turns 26: Where To Watch and Download Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji’s Timeless Classic Celebrating Love and Friendship.
2. Shimmer, Sarees and Sheer
Karan Johar has been a trendsetter when it comes to fashion in the movies. The same held true right from his first movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. From Rani Mukerji's unforgettable violet mini-dress to the pastel lehengas, it set standards. Her character Tina slayed in her then OOTD/OOTN and gave us perfect makeup looks much before such things were even talked about. Women flocked to shops to buy that 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai saree' with a matching lace blouse. The sheer black shirt worn by Shah Rukh Khan in the rain dance sequence is also legendary. Kajol's looks as a tomboy as well as her sarees were iconic. ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ Clocks 26 Years: Karan Johar Shares Emotional Anecdotes From the Beloved Classic (Watch Video).
3. 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' Dialogues
From Kajol's "Mera pehla pyaar adhura reh gaya Rifat-Bi" to Parzaan Dastur's iconic line "Tussi jaa rahe ho? Tussi na jao", and the meaningful conversations about pyaar (love) and samjhauta (compromise) between Anjali and Mrs Sharma (her mother) played by the late Reema Lagoo, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai served life's truths in a truly colourful canvas.

4. Rahul and Anjali's Reunion Scene
Till date, the reunion scene of Anjali and Rahul with "Jaane Wafa Hoke Bekaraar" in the background remains one of the best in Bollywood. The shock of Rahul on seeing a transformed Anjali, coupled with her joy after years of longing for him still makes us sentimental.
5. When Little Anjali Meets Anjali
The meeting of Anjali (Kajol) and little Anjali (Rahul's daughter from Tina) at the summer camp is one of the best scenes of Bollywood. Also the moment when Anjali finds out about Tina's death. Rahul has named his daughter after his buddy Anjali, who had a one-sided love for him back in college days. That love is recognised by the daughter and she brings together her father and Anjali.

6. Songs 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' to 'Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayi'
From the title track "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" to "Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayi" and "Koi Mill Gaya", the movie had songs that are still being listened to. With melodious music by Jatin-Lalit and lyrics by Sameer, the choreography by Farah Khan took the movie to another level.

7. Aman (Salman Khan) – a Green Flag
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai gave us a green flag fiance in Aman (played by Salman Khan in a special appearance). His character finds admirers even in Gen-Z who like him over Rahul's boisterous self. Aman respected Anjali, and adored her mother, finally sacrificing his love for Rahul. This is what most modern women look for in their husbands.

As social media took over, many opined that Anjali should have stayed on with Aman than ditch him for her 'true love' Rahul. People have also called out the sexism in the film. But then, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai signifies a different era in our lives. And we prefer it that way!
