It smells like fresh trouble for Bollywood producer Prernaa Arora. Once a rising star in the film industry, the producer's name has been mired in many controversies including non-payment of dues by her company KriArj entertainment. Now, as per reports, Prernaa has been taken into custody by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and will remain so until December 10 upon the order of a Mumbai court. A tweet by ANI reads, "Film producer Prerna Arora was arrested yesterday by Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged fraud of Rs 16 crore," Prernaa Arora Accused of Physically Assaulting Masseuse; Producer Denies Incident - Read Deets.

Times of India has reported that when Prernaa was arrested by the Mumbai police she was in possession of multiple pan cards and a few passports. She was produced in Esplanade Court in Mumbai yesterday. After the hearing was concluded, the court ordered for the producer's detainment. Expect more details of the alleged fraud case to spill out soon.

Earlier in the year, Prernaa, with Kriarj Entertainment, had fallen into legal trouble with movies like John Abraham's Parmanu, Shahid Kapoor's Batti Gul Meter Chalu, and Anil Kapoor's Fanne Khan. She was also one of the producers of the recently released Kedarnath. She had accused director Abhishek Kapoor of wasting resource, which he then counter argued with non-payment of dues by the production house.

Back in July, Vashu Bhagnani had filed an FIR with the EOW to get the proper rights for the films - Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Fanne Khan. Vashu's lawyer, Vibhav Krishna, told a publication, "KirArj has sold the India theatrical distribution to my client for Rs 10 crore. Rs 5.5 crore was to be paid when signing the agreement on December 16, 2017, and the rest, a week before the release [of the film]. Since Prernaa needed money, my client paid her Rs 8.5 crore in advance. Now, T-Series tells us we don't have rights to distribute the film."

Prernaa, as per reports, will also be tried next week over allegations of contempt of court. Apart from the fraud case, a case was also filed recently against her for allegedly assaulting and abusing her masseuse.
