Khufiya: Shah Rukh Khan's 'Cameo' in Tabu, Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi's Spy Thriller Explained! (SPOILER ALERT)

In a recent interview, Vishal Bhardwaj, the director of Netflix's spy thriller Khufiya, made an intriguing revelation about Shah Rukh Khan's involvement in the film. However, there was a twist to it. Bhardwaj mentioned that SRK, who is currently enjoying a phenomenal run at the box office with two consecutive blockbusters, has an 'indirect' cameo appearance in the movie. So, what exactly does this imply? As far as our knowledge goes, Shah Rukh Khan had only filmed one cameo appearance this year, and that was for Tiger 3. During the interview, VB stated this about working with Shah Rukh Khan, "We are always asked 'when is it happening.' Well, the time has come. He has already made an indirect cameo (in Khufiya), and now the film awaits. I have a strong intuition, and Shah Rukh Khan himself has conveyed a similar feeling to me; we will collaborate on something special this time."
Upon watching Khufiya, it is revealed that the indirect 'cameo' was actually a scene from Main Hoon Na, featuring Shah Rukh Khan. Given that most of the events in Khufiya are set in 2004, which coincides with the release year of Main Hoon Na in theaters, a comedic scene from the Farah Khan-directed film is screened in a theater, where Ali Fazal's character shares information with an agent. Main Hoon Na, produced under Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd banner, also starred Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Rakhi Sawant, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, and Suniel Shetty. Interestingly, Tabu, who plays the main lead in Khufiya, had an uncredited seconds-long cameo in Main Hoon Na.
Vishal Bhardwaj had also revealed that he was to do a film with SRK that was announced but got shelved later. Let's hope that King Khan gets to make a 'direct' appearance in a Vishal Bhardwaj masterpiece soon enough. And let's hope that film has Tabu as the female lead.
