Janhvi Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi were a treat to watch in Sharan Sharma's Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The movie released on Netflix in the 2020 lockdown and was highly appreciated. Shot mostly in Lucknow, the film is about India's first female pilot, Gunjan Saxena, who flew in combat during the Kargil War. Pankaj Tripathi got a lot of love for his performance as Lieutenant Colonel Anup Saxena who truly believes in gender equality. Janhvi Kapoor won accolades for her performance as Gunjan Saxena.

‘Lakshya’
Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan starred in Farhan Akhtar's directorial Lakshya (2004). The film was about the metamorphosis of an aimless irresponsible young man into an army cadet who fights bravely in the Kargil War. Lakshya got four nominations at the Filmfare Awards. The song "Main Aisa Kyon Hoon" was a rage.

‘Shershaah’
Shershaah was one of the most successful OTT movies during the 2021 lockdown. The movie was based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra. Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani played the lead roles in the movie. Shershaah was unanimously loved by the audience. They felt it was one movie for the big screen. Vishnuvardhan was the director.

‘LOC: Kargil’
Directed by JP Dutta, LOC: Kargil was released in 2003. The multi-starrer epic war movie, although not commercially successful, is worth a watch. It starred Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Nagarjuna Akkineni and others in the lead. ‘Dhoop’
While most films are around nationalism, Dhoop was around how some families of martyrs struggle after losing their child in the war. Sanjay Suri, Om Puri, Revathi and Gul Panag played the lead roles in this 2003 movie. It was based on the life of Captain Anuj Nayyar of the 17 Jat Regiment. Dhoop can be watched on Prime Video.
