Sunny Leone's entry in the Indian entertainment industry through Bigg Boss 5 has been controversial even before she entered the show. She might not have won the show but she did become one popular star and won hearts. She also landed a Bollywood film through the show. Since then, there has been no stopping her. She has handled negativity and controversies like a pro. Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone is un-apologetically bold and worth binge-watching. The first episode starts with the controversial interview that the actress did with CNN-News18 that took over the internet. That is one interview you cannot forget.

Now I have a problem with the way this particular sequence was shot but we'll get to that in some time. Sunny makes it pretty clear that financial issues at home did not force her into entering the adult entertainment industry. She reveals that she took it up because that was her first job offer and she took it up on impulse. The conversations between Karenjit and her parents is so real you will definitely relate to it, especially the bit about clothes. You will see that in the first episode itself. It is definitely a series that you will binge-watch.

Considering what a hot topic of debate Sunny's life has been, you would naturally be more interested in finding out more about her life and her childhood. The episodes are shorter and very precise. The director keeps swinging from her childhood to her teen to her stint as an adult entertainer in every episode. You get to see the different phases of her life in all of the episodes.

What is your reaction to Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone?

The whole interview segment in the show was so flawed. So after the first couple of episodes, you would naturally want to re-watch the original interview and it was nothing like this one. the show doesn't focus on her entry in Bollywood but just revolves around how she became an adult entertainer and accepted it the way she did. But the end will kind of leave you disappointed because that's not what you're really looking for. We know Sunny does not regret the choices that she made and we respect her for that. The fact that she was headstrong and quite determined about her choice of career is pretty evident without her having to push in a narrative about regrets. You'll know when you see. I'm also quite dissatisfied with how little of her relationship with Daniel Weber was shown. I was actually expecting some romantic mush!

Yay!

- The conversations and the kind of relationship Karenjit or her brother have with their parents is quite realistic

- Rysa Saujani, who plays the young Karenjit, delivers a wonderful performance and a lot of girls with relate to her

- The direction and editing of the series is a total winner

- The show keeps you hooked on till you complete it. It's worth binge-watching

- Another thing that worked for me was that the episodes were short, crisp and to the point

- The intimate scenes have been shot aesthetically

Nay

- The interview segment was something that put me off completely. It was flawed and could have been shot better

- The makers could have added a little more about how Sunny's relationship with Daniel grew or at least show them getting married or something

- The last scene from the last episode where Sunny discusses her regrets with Daniel could have been avoided. I mean, she pretty much screamed that she is proud of her decisions throughout the series and also made it quite clear that she only regrets hurting her parents

Final Thoughts

Whether you are a Sunny Leone fan or not, you are going to watch it because, well, it's Sunny Leone. And you should. I'm not saying that it's going to change the way you have been seeing her all this while but it will definitely make you realise that she is more than just a porn star. There is a personality and a story you would fit into somewhere. The best part about the series is that it's not an attempt to change her image or anything. It's just her story and it's told like a story. Just watch it with an open mind and tell us what you think in the comments below!
