Kareena Kapoor Khan-Arjun Kapoor in Life in a Metro Sequel? Bollywood Sees a New Trend in Replacing the Original Cast in the Franchise

Well, we do like to see the new plot and cast when it comes to sequels but there’s a reason why the audience look forward to them-the characters!

It is the era of sequels and installments and we don’t complain. But we would definitely narrow our eyes when these sequels don’t have the original cast. Why we suddenly started to talk about it is the recent buzz about the sequel of Anurag Basu’s Life In a Metro. The film originally starred Sharman Joshi, Kangana Ranaut, Shiney Ahuja, Shilpa Shetty, Dharmendra, Kay Kay Menon, Nafisa Ali, Konkona Sen and Irrfan Khan. The film was appreciated to the core. However, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions might now come out with its sequel with an altered star cast including Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor.

A source told DNA, "Kareena Kapoor Khan will reportedly feature in one of the stories and Arjun Kapoor will also be a part of one of the other plots. Their tracks are not connected is what we hear.” Well, although the idea sounds good, whats original remains original. However, Bollywood makers have adopted a weird trend of coming up with sequels with an entirely different cast.

Look at Dharma’s other two sequels for instance! According to the latest media reports, there will be a Dostana sequel but without Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in it. There is also Student of The Year sequel lined up with Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey instead of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, the original students. Also, we might see John Abraham in Sarfarosh sequel instead of Aamir Khan. Earlier too, we saw the examples of this trend through films like Race 3, Aashiqui 2 and a few other films.

Well, we do like to see the new plot and cast when it comes to sequels but there’s a reason why the audience look forward to them-the characters! We really would like it more to see what happened in the lives of the characters in the next installments rather than getting into the zone of a totally new character! Why call it sequel then, anyway? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
