Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi in Legal Mess, Madras HC Gives Jayalalithaa’s Niece, Deepa, Permission to Sue the Makers
Going by the latest update around Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi, it has found itself in hot waters. It was a few days ago when the makers of Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi unveiled the teaser of their film on the web. The mini teaser saw Kangana in two different avatars acing the role of late actress-cum-politician, Jayalalithaa. The much awaited project has lots of hops attached to it as its a biopic on the life of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa. And now, going by the latest update around the flick, it has found itself in hot waters. Earlier in November, it was reported that Jayalalithaa's niece, Deepa Jayakumar had moved to Madras High Court to seek a ban on two projects based (a web series and Kangana's film) on the late politician's life. Deepa in the filed lawsuit claimed that as she is the legal heir (family member) of the late actress, she should be approached by the makers before making a movie or a web series on her. That's not it, as the lawsuit also mentioned that the full script of the film/series had to go through her before the project gets a green signal. Now, the Madras High Court has ruled in Deepa's favour which means it is a trouble for Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi. Elaborating on the same, it was on Tuesday when Madras High Court gave J. Deepa permission to sue the makers of the film Thalaivi as well as Gautham Menon. FYI, Gautham is the man who is said to churn a web series on the life of Jayalalithaa, which will be titled as Queen and is expected to star Ramya Krishnan. We wonder what will be the response of team Kangana on this legal tiff with Jayalalithaa's family member? Stay tuned!
