Deepika Padukone took a surprising political stand recently without even actually commenting on the ongoing discussions regarding CAA, NRC and NPR. The actress who has been busy with the promotions of her film Chhapaak was in Delhi for the same and after hearing about the recent attack on students and teachers at JNU, decided to pay a visit at the university and was seen standing along with JNSU President Aishe Ghosh and former JNU student Kanhaiya Kumar. As soon as pictures of the actress at JNU surfaced on social media, twitter started to trend #BoycottChhapaak and a BJP leader even asked people to boycott her films alleging that she's a supporter of the 'Tuke Tukde Gang'. Earlier today, Rangoli shared a video of Kangana Ranaut thanking Deepika and filmmaker Meghna Gulzar for making a film on acid attack survivors. Rangoli also thanked the team of Chhapaak for telling 'a story that needs to be told'. While there are users who agreed with Rangoli on Deepika using JNU issue to promote her film, there are several others who got #ISupportDeepika trending on Twitter and are sharing movie tickets of Chhapaak to show that they will not let this controversy affect the film.
