Kangana Ranaut’s Demand to Get a National Award for Manikarnika Gets Trolled by Twitterati for Narcissism – Read Tweets
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi had come out during Republic Day weekend this year. The movie marked the directorial debut of Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana Ranaut is known for making controversial statements, every time that there is a mike in front of her. And now she becomes those rare examples of actors who demand that their work be lauded and if not, there is something wrong with the reward system. In a media interaction during her 32nd birthday, Kangana was asked whether she is expecting a National award for her performance in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The actress had earlier won India's most prestigious movie award thrice - Best Supporting Actress (Fashion) and two Best Actress awards (for Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns). Kangana Ranaut Charges Rs 24 Crore for Jayalalithaa Biopic, Beats Deepika Padukone To be the Highest Paid Actress in Bollywood.
In reply to that question, Kangana said, "I feel there are certain things which if you will not respect, then it is, in turn, disrespectful for that organisation itself. So, if I or my film Manikarnika doesn’t win at National film awards, then it will question the credibility of that award ceremony but if I come across other good work then, I will be objective enough to say it’s better than me." That is quite confident of someone whose film and performance had both been met with a mixed response. And like always, her statement didn't go down well with many of the Bollywood fans. They called her out for her narcissism. Check out the tweets below:

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi had come out during Republic Day weekend this year. The movie marked the directorial debut of Kangana, a credit that she shared with Telugu film-maker Krish (though she claims that she reshoot many of the portions herself). Manikarnika had grossed more than Rs 100 crore at the box office. However, its profitability by theatre revenue is questionable since the reshoots had shot up the budget.
