Post Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, another historical drama Manikarnika based on the life of Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai is facing protests in Rajasthan. The protests for Padmaavat have settled down and the movie is making tremendous business. Just then we are reading of Manikarnika starring Kangana Ranaut running in trouble with Brahmin group Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha.

The group has alleged that the film shows a romantic involvement between the queen and a British official. Now the lead actress has taken it upon herself to dismiss these rumours. Kangana said to PTI, "It is very lowly (neech baat) to even think like that about Rani Laxmibai. We cannot even think like that, the kind of things they are saying. What they are saying is actually defaming. There is nothing like that. It is idle talk and I don't know why it is being said." She has called the group's claims as baseless and defaming for the film.

The writer of the film assured the people that there is no such thing that will hurt the sentiments of the people and bring any disrespect to the brave queen. The film is based on the war against the British East India Company during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Opposite Kangana Ranaut, there will be Sonu Sood in the lead of the film directed by Krish.

The film Manikarnika was supposed to be releasing in April this year but has been pushed ahead by months. It will now release on the 3rd of August. With Kangana claiming as the rumours baseless, it remains to be seen if the film will see a smooth release. Especially since the group had said they would disrupt the shoot if the scenes are not removed. With the scenes not being there in the first place as per the lead actress and the writer, eases the problems of protests.
