Kangana Ranaut Has to Say This About Rani Mukerji's Controversial Statement About the #Metoo Movement
Kangana Ranaut's take on Rani Mukerji's statement about the #MeToo movement is this...
Recently, Rani Mukerji got slammed on social media and rightly so for her take on the #MeToo movement. When she, along with other celebrated actresses from Bollywood were invited by Rajeev Masand for the annual Roundtable talk, she expressed how she felt that it is the women who need to change to avoid unpleasant experiences. "Women should change before asking other people to change. They need to be strong enough to end things then and there," said Rani instead of pointing out that it is the society and the men who commit such a heinous act need to change. Now, Kangana Ranaut, who has always been very vocal about her approach and thoughts about women empowerment and is all for feminism, this time, took a rather diplomatic stand when asked to comment on Rani's take on #MeToo. She said, “I think as a woman you have to be that powerful within yourself, you have to believe that you're so powerful that if you ever come into a situation like that you have the courage to say 'back off.' I think you have to have the courage to be able to protect yourself,” adding, “you have to take responsibility for your own self."
She also went on to say, “People who need support, who need to be empowered, we must empower but agar Rani Laxmi Bai jaise ladkiyan agar humari society humein de sakti hai toh why not, unko discourage nahi karna chahiye. If they are strong women, we should not discourage women. I was 16-years-old when I filed my first FIR against sexual assault so there are people who can stand up for themselves, they shouldn’t be discouraged.” Further, Kangana was asked about children who are not empowered and she said, “Empowerment who need, they should be empowered but not necessarily everyone needs. Some people can give empowerment also. Some people are givers, the ones who can should be encouraged to give strength, people who are working with NGOs.”
Kangana's next movie- Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is slated to release this month.
