Kalank Teaser Launch: Here’s What Madhuri Dixit Has To Say On Replacing Sridevi in The Film!
Reveals that the cast of the film would miss her on the sets.
It is common knowledge that it was the late Sridevi who was to play Bahaar Begum’s role in Karan Johar’s Kalank, before her tragic demise. Immediately after, Madhuri Dixit was roped in for the role and it was a major breakthrough for the filmmaker, for having cast her and Sanjay in a film together, a feat that no other producer had achieved in the past many years. For the past few weeks, Kalank makers were releasing their character posters one by one and in fact, they kept releasing them until this morning, a few hours before the official teaser launch.

At the launch, Madhuri was questioned on replacing Sridevi. To this, she said, “Ek toh bohot dukhad baat hui thi tabhi hi and when I was approached to do this role, ek heavy heart tha tabhi. Dil mein bohot saari bhaavnayein thi. “As an actress when you step into the role, you do it your way. But unki yaad humesha aati thi set pe because who yeh role karne wali thi. Lekin jab aap kaam shuru karte hai toh in sab ke beyond dekhna padta hai aur apna role ache se nibhana padta hai. But yes, we will all miss her terribly.”
Kalank stars Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur and releases on April 17.
