After revealing the logo of Brahmastra, Karan Johar's production house, Dharma Productions, has now begun the promotions for their next release, Kalank. The movie is set in the partition era and features an ensemble cast. So the movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Kunal Kemmu and Kiara Advani. Kalank is directed by Abhishek Varman of 2 States fame. The makers have revealed the individual posters of Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur in the movie. Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur or Sanjay Dutt - Whose First Look from Kalank Are You Digging the Most?
Before the campaign began, producer Karan Johar had talked about how Kalank had been a dream waiting to be made for years. It was his father, the late Yash Johar's idea and a project that Karan Johar himself wanted to direct. If you have been following any news related to Dharma movies for years, then you might have heard Karan talking about making a partition drama for years.
But now, there has been a change in the plans with Abhishek Varman taking over the ropes from Karan Johar. KJo, meanwhile, is now making a historical in Takht, that stars Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. Not Kareena Kapoor Khan or Alia Bhatt but Ranveer Singh Was the First Actor to Hear Karan Johar's Takht Script.
In the process, the cast that Karan Johar wanted for Kalank also saw wide changes. Believe it or not, there were reports that mention how Karan Johar wanted Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Rani Mukerji to take on the lead roles. However, for some reason, this dream casting never happened and we wonder if it had anything to do with the then icy vibes between SRK and Ajay. There was another report that suggested Karan wanted to have Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor in the film, which again, didn't happen.
Even the present casting consists of a replacement. Madhuri Dixit Nene was never planned to be cast in the movie. Instead, it was Sridevi that the makers had a talk with. However, her untimely demise prompted the change and made Madhuri take on the role, reuniting with her former co-star (and alleged ex) Sanjay Dutt after more than two decades. Kalank will release on April 19.
