On Friday, March 29, Vidyut Jammwal starrer Junglee hit the theatres and witnessed around 10 % occupancy during the morning shows. The film opened to not-so-great reviews and that certainly affected its performance at the ticket windows. Plus, the buzz around the jungle adventure wasn't much and the trailer of the film too didn't stir any kind excitement amongst the masses. Even the trade experts had predicted that Junglee wouldn't take a huge opening on day 1 and that's exactly what happened. Helmed by well-known Hollywood director Chuck Russell, Vidyut starrer did below average business on its first day at the domestic box office. Box Office Report: Notebook Off To a Slow Start, Junglee Witnesses 10 % Occupancy.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the popular microblogging site Twitter a while back and wrote, "#Junglee has a mixed start on Day 1... Fares better in mass pockets, but is dull/ordinary elsewhere... Has to catch speed over the weekend to post a satisfactory total... Fri ₹ 3.35 cr. India biz."

Boxofficeindia.com also stated, "Junglee collected 3.25- 3.50 crore nett on day one and did reasonable business in some places but generally the collections were low.  Bihar was best with 20 lakhs nett business and this circuit still remains to loyal to animal films." Junglee Movie Review: Vidyut Jammwal Tries too Hard to Save This Average Jungle Drama.

The trade portal further said, "The better collections are from mass circuits so huge growth may be difficult for the film. The other release Notebook has fared poorly with collections of 60-70 lakhs nett on day one. It is three times less than Junglee which itself is not that good."

Apart from Vidyut, Junglee also stars  Pooja Sawant and Asha Bhat in the lead roles and has been produced by Vineet Jain and Priti Shahani.
