One of the most recognised film festivals in India, Jio MAMI Film Festival 2019 commenced on October 17 and hosted multiple screening of films from across the globe at various venues in Mumbai. As the 21st MAMI Film Festival comes to an end, the red carpet closing ceremony was held in Juhu, Mumbai on October 24. This year, the closing movie of the film festival is Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu starrer Saand Ki Aankh. The film received a standing ovation after the screening. The Tushar Hiranandani directorial is set to release in theatres on October 24. The festival had a grand opening ceremony last week where Deepika Padukone addressed the audience as the Chairperson. The red carpet of the opening ceremony was attended by Karan Johar, Kiran Rao, Taapsee Pannu, Konkona Sensharma, Kabir Khan among many others. Now, for the closing ceremony too, Deepika walked in looking gorgeous in a monochrome avatar. Among others, Rakul Preet Singh, Taapsee Pannu were spotted at the red carpet. Earlier, at the opening ceremony of the film festival, Deepika had said, "Cinema has the power to make us less lonely. In the age of digital streaming and social media that is slowly but surely isolating us, Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) binds us without boundaries, inhibitions and most importantly without fear. As an artist, who truly believes in the power of cinema, I say we need this more than ever before."! The 21st edition of the film festival was a roaring success as panel discussions and masterclasses were held through the course of the festival that gathered all cinephiles from the city.
