For those who haven't seen Jawan yet, I'd like to issue a warning and a disclaimer. Let's start with the warning you need to know before watching the film. Prior to Jawan's release, there were heated rumours circulating that Thalapathy Vijay would make a cameo appearance alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Vijay had previously played the lead role in three of director Atlee's four films before Jawan, namely Theri, Mersal, and Bigil. In fact, the Tamil superstar even made an appearance on the set of Jawan, and a viral photo of him with Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee only added fuel to the rumour fire. However, it's important to note that there is no cameo by Vijay in the film, in any version, as Atlee himself clarified in an interview given to a portal just one day before the film's release. Jawan: Is Thalapathy Vijay Having Cameo in Shah Rukh Khan's Film? Director Atlee Puts An End to The Hot Rumour!
Furthermore, there is no cameo by Allu Arjun in the film. Instead, there are two surprise cameos that deserve your attention. This doesn't include Deepika Padukone's cameo that was already revealed in the trailers for Jawan. Nevertheless, for the purposes of this feature, we will include her as well. Now comes the disclaimer part. Before we proceed, we must caution you that there will be some SPOILERS, so proceed with caution...
Atlee
Yes, Atlee couldn't resist the temptation to share the screen with King Khan. Following in the footsteps of another popular Tamil director in Bollywood who enjoys making dancing cameos in his films - Prabhu Deva - Atlee joins Shah Rukh Khan for a few dance moves in the "Zinda Banda" song, and boy, can he dance!!!
Deepika Padukone
As mentioned earlier, Deepika's cameo in Jawan is no secret. She has an extended cameo in the film, appearing in the second half. She portrays Aishwarya, the wife of Vikram Rathore, Shah Rukh Khan's character's 'baap,' and the mother of Azad, Shah Rukh Khan's character's 'son' (thankfully, they don't share the screen, otherwise... awkward!). Her character meets a tragic fate, but she is part of two songs, one being a romantic track called "Faraatta" and the other a beautiful lullaby called "Aarariraro". Sanjay Dutt
If you followed the production of Jawan closely, you may have heard about Sanjay Dutt shooting for a secret cameo appearance in the film. We're pleased to confirm that this cameo is still intact, and it's quite an enjoyable part. The filmmakers even acknowledge him in the opening credits. Dutt portrays Madhavan Naik, a police negotiator, who attempts to outsmart Shah Rukh Khan's character in the third act when the latter holds an entire women's jail hostage. However, there is a twist to his character that we won't reveal here to avoid spoilers. Let's just say that if Jawan ever receives a sequel, he could play a more substantial role.
PS: We have a feeling that the makers did plan to include Thalapathy Vijay in the Tamil version and Allu Arjun in the Telugu version of Jawan for Dutt's role. But things may not have panned out as they desired, though seeing how Dutt is fine in the role, it hardly matters. What say, readers?
