The new version of EK Do Teen from Baaghi 2 has created quite a huge controversy when it was first revealed on YouTube. Picturised on Jacqueline Fernandez, the song appeared in a crucial juncture of the movie and also had appearances from Prateik Babbar and Tiger Shroff. The fans of the original Madhuri Dixit track (from Tezaab) were aghast about how the makers can even touch such a classic song. But there is more to it - nothing about the song was right. Be it is the mastering, the choreography or even the additional beats. Why even otherwise wonderful Shreya Ghoshal couldn't save the song either.
Now the movie has arrived on the big screen, it has created a new controversy for the song. Let me ask you a question - if you have watched Baaghi 2, did you find the vocals in the song different from what came out a week back?
If yes, there is a reason for that! For some reason, the makers chose singer Palak Muchhal's voice in the version of the song that came out in the theatre. Moreover, they also released a full version of the Ek Do Teen song that also had Muchhal's voice.
Not that it made any kind of difference - the song was still the worst part about the movie that had Prateik Babbar mouth lines like 'Hey baby… I mean Bhabhi!'
Even Shreya Ghoshal herself was not aware of this, as she was informed of the situation by her fans. Just some time back, she wrote on Twitter, "I was totally clueless. Just read your tweets. I am being told by the team a scratch rehearsal version went by mistake to the film print." But if that's the case, why have the makers not gone on public and informed the listeners about the change, or at least the singer about it beforehand? Moreover, why did they release the final version of the song with Muchhal's voice on YouTube?
I was totally clueless. Just read your tweets.
