Jabariya Jodi Quick Movie Review: Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra's Romcom Has Fun Moments

Jabariya Jodi, releasing in August 9, stars Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra in the lead. The movie, directed by Prashant Singh, is about the practice of groom-napping that happens in certain parts of the country. "The premise of Jabariya Jodi is based around the practice of groom-napping when a suitable boy is kidnapped and married to a girl whose father can't afford to pay dowry. Sidharth Malhotra's Abhay Singh is the ringleader of such a gang. He specialises in making the potential grooms dance at their own baraats without realising that it is his own jabariya Shaadi. Abhay Singh faces conundrum in his own life when Babli, his childhood love, re-enters his life and falls for him again. In between, his father also gets a contract to do a Jabariya Shaadi for her.

The first half of Jabariya Jodi is quite fun, more so thanks to the humour, the cast and sparkling dialogue. Jabariya Jodi's treatment of the practice of groom-napping is problematic, and there is a clear lack.of.logic in the proceedings. But there is much to enjoy in the film, with even the lead actors quite at ease with their characters. Really hoping that Jabariya Jodi keeps up the same momentum and tempo in the second half too."
