The past few weeks have been full of tension considering the kind of violence Anti-CAA protests have been met with in parts of UP and other states. Social media has been divided over this matter while only a handful of Bollywood celebrities have come forward in support of the protests and also called out the police action taken against protestors. Majority of the senior members of the industry including A-list stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan etc have managed to remain silent amidst all this, leaving netizens even more enraged. According to a report in Huffington Post, the Modi government has invited Bollywood’s top stars and filmmakers to a Mumbai hotel for a meeting with Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Railways Commerce and Industry to discuss the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act. The report suggests that it includes some big names from the industry such as Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Kabir Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurranna among the invitees. As per the report, the dinner is being organised by film producer Mahaveer Jain.

Not just this, popular YouTuber, Dhruv Rathee also took to Twitter to share a screenshot of a message forwarded o him by a Bollywood star about the invitation for a dialogue on CAA with Union Minister Piyush Goyal. There's no doubt that several Bollywood celebrities have been on good terms with Prime Minister Modi ever since 2014 and the PM has also time and again reached out to these celebrities for campaigns and hence when the Anti-CAA protests broke, only a section of filmmakers and actors remained vocal about it and criticised it boldly. Swara Bhasker, Konkona Sen Sharma, Richa Chaddha, Anurag Kashyap have been among the few personalities from the fraternity who have questioned the government as of yet.
