Irrfan Khan Shares About His Rare Disease: News Media Became Sick with Speculation from Brain Cancer to Tumor
The worst part of reportage comes in the last lines when they say they have no confirmed medical reports about the same piece.
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan recently put out a cryptic tweet about suffering from a rare disease. Fan following of the versatile actor went crazy and worried wanting to know what happened to him. Although the actor had promised that he will let his fans know about it soon, news channels started their own diagnosis and we don’t know why! In a race to put out the news first, we think it is the media who has been caught with a more serious disease of sensationalism. Just like the coverage of Sridevi’s funeral was turned into an event, the tweet of the actor was concluded with dangerous diseases. Some news reports said the actor is suffering from a brain cancer to some going ahead with a brain tumor. Is Irrfan Khan Really Suffering From Deadly Brain Cancer? Here's the Truth About the 'News' That's Going Viral
The problem with such reporting is while the channels go ahead and make such unauthenticated claims, beloved fans take the first report as the true one. The news spread fast and we are unsure if such reporting is going to make anyone feel better, let alone the actor in concern. To make it look more real, the news report said the actor was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital after having convulsion attacks. The worst part of reportage comes in the last lines when they say they have no confirmed medical reports about the same piece. Well, then why would someone do an elongate story giving out all the details taken from no valid sources and make news out it? It is clearly a race for TRPs and the symptoms are sickening.
The passing away of actress Sridevi already saw the low stooping of the media. From reporters going in the bathtub to placing a wine glass in a bathroom and trying to enact the whole scene out, the coverage went far from factual. Till the actress’s remains reached back to the country, the news channels started playing an investigation game of their own to find out the reason of death. The coverage got flak from the celebrities themselves calling out to such low-down being shared in the name of news! While some of them apologized for the game they played out in public, the very funeral was covered like a festival event. From showing close-ups of her face to getting a glimpse of the body, the cameras covered every detail. Sonam Kapoor had to shout out at the cameras to get them away. So much for expecting privacy?
But that is now old news and one new tweet served enough for the play to begin again.
Check out Irfan Khan's tweet:
While the initial reports floating were about jaundice; to have a report of dangerous Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Grade IV cancer is plain ridiculous and an epitome of irresponsible reporting. One thing is essentially clear that media really doesn’t respect the privacy of the public figures. When the actor himself assured of giving out the confirmed news within 10 days, channels went ahead to get the 10 points extra on their ratings. But at what cost? By putting rumours out there, by creating panic among the fans, by causing distress to the family!
Patience is supposed to be a virtue which some news channels have heavily compromised on and turned into an impurity. Right now Irrfan Khan and his family need blessings and not wild speculations. The actor will next be seen in the film Blackmail and we hope he gets hale and hearty soon.
