Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari starrer Blackmail hit the movie screens today. The film has opened to a great response from viewers. Well, when we know that a film stars someone as talented as Irrfan Khan and someone like Kirti Kulhari who, too has impressed us mightily with her acting chops in Pink, it doesn't really come to us as a surprise that the film garners great response from everyone.

The screening of Blackmail was held last night and the who's who of Bollywood dropped by to watch the film. Omung Kumar, Sonal Chauhan, Shabana Azmi, David Dhawan, Omung Kumar, Pooja Chopra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sharad Kelkar, Ashoke Pandit, Anand Tiwari, Swanand Kirkire watched Blackmail last night and they are all praise for the Kirti Kulhari and Irrfan Khan movie. Let's take a look at what B-Townies have to say about the dark comedy:

Filmmaker Omung Kumar said, "Incredible! Blackmail is funny, it is witty, quirky, I just did not want to movie to end, it was so funny. It's fantastic, I wanted to see all the stupid things that are in the film and I was guessing who is going to die next. I love it, I was bowled over since the trailer, I knew what I was in for and once it started till interval, superb and after interval, it just takes off. Everyone, the writing, the direction, the cast is believable, you know that they are in this mess and how do you get out, and if you are really in that mess how do you really get out. Fantastic, be the police guy, be the detective, all the star cast, Irrfan is obviously fantastic but everyone put together, I loved it!"

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi shared, "Blackmail is a mad predictable script directed with such relish by Abhinay Deo, performed with unrestrained delight by a super ensemble cast led by Irrfan, Arunoday Singh & Divya Dutta." While lyricist and writer Swanand Kirkire said, "Blackmail...What a Waakda film!!! A director in control and all the actors in super form. Not to be missed".

LatestLY.com's movie critic Sreeju Sudhakaran, who was mighty impressed with the film gave it an incredible 4-star rating. Here's what he has to say about it: "While Blackmail is an enjoyably twisty ride throughout, you do come across some bumps on the way. While it is always welcome to see Urmila Matondkar back on screen, her dance number comes off as a distraction. Omi Vaidya's subplot about marketing toilet paper isn't as amusing as the movie wants it to be, though it does lead to a good payout later. There are some big loopholes too in the script, like why does the manager, whose wife's pic goes 'missing' frequently, not check with the security guard as to who stays late at office. If you love twisted entertainers that are smart, well-directed and keep you chuckling throughout, then Blackmail should be on your weekend watchlist. Led by Irrfan Khan's charmingly wicked performance, this is one ransom call you should be a part of."
