Irrfan Khan, who is currently in London, UK, being treated for his neuroendocrine tumour, will be seen next in Bollywood in Karwaan. The National award-winning actor was last seen in the black comedy, Blackmail, that received good reviews but performed averagely at the box office. Karwaan also marks the Bollywood debut of the Malayalam heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan, while Youtube sensation Mithila Palkar is the female lead. It is a road trip comedy that is directed by Akarsh Khurana, who earlier made High Jack.

Karwaan was supposed to come out on August 10, but as per the latest update, the movie's release date has been advanced. It will now release on August 3, thereby enjoying a two-week solo run, since no major release in coming out till August 15. August 15 will probably have either Gold or 2.0 coming out on this date, both of which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead.

The change in plans may have something to do with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra's Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar vacating the August 3 spot. The YRF movie will only release next year on March 1, 2019.

Talking more about Karwaan, the director recently revealed to an online portal that Irrfan Khan might return to India to promote the movie. He had said, "We are all looking forward to Irrfan’s return. Irrfan’s performance in ‘Karwaan’ is expectedly outstanding. Working with him was a dream come true. I was intimidated at first but by the third or fourth day we had a great rapport and then on it was very comfortable and amazing." Irrfan had even tweeted about the movie after a gap of two months.
