Internet is abuzz with various inspirational posts focusing on the International Women’s Day. Apart from the real-life role models, we Indians also feel very motivated by the reel-life characters. And if we go by the Bollywood films, the industry has given us ample of such characters which make our hearts swell with pride. But today, we are not talking about those head-strong characters who take on the world with utter braveness. We are talking about those naive, simple characters, girls, like you and me, who emerged stronger with the experiences they went through.

Kareena Kapoor Khan as Geet in Jab We Met. (Movie Still)

When we talk about being naïve, how can we not mention Geet? Kareena Kapoor Khan’s bubbly and dreamy character from Jab We Met is a fine example of how a woman, mad in love, chasing her dreams, gets a reality check and adapts to the situation bravely. Did that bitter experience change her nature? No, but definitely made her stronger and wiser!

Alia Bhatt as Veera in Highway. (Movie Stills)

The next character that we would not want to miss giving due credits is Veera. Remember that young bride played by Alia Bhatt in Highway? Yet again, a rich girl who aspires to have a simple life gets kidnapped and her life changes (only to make her a stronger person). We wonder whether she would dare to speak up against the sexual harassment by her uncle, had it not been her encounter with Mahabir (Randeep Hooda), the kidnapper with a clean heart.

Deepika Padukone as Piku in Piku. (Movie Stills)

Another girl who you’ll find in every other household is Piku. The always-irritated-yet-emotional character played by Deepika Padukone in Piku is someone most of us would relate to. The girl manages her office, her relationships and her stubborn but sweet, ailing father simultaneously. Even though there is no extraordinary courage shown by her here, only a sturdy woman can juggle between the life with such ace.

Kangana Ranaut as Rani in Queen. (Movie Stills)

The run-away bride of Bollywood, Rani, stands as an inspiration for all the hopeless romantics out there. Kangana Ranaut’s character from Queen would not have been able to rebuild her self-esteem if she did not dare to take one brave decision of flying off to Paris alone. Once an inexperienced traveler, she collected moments of wonderful experiences and made amazing friends with one big decision.

These characters remind us that no matter what situation you are in, or how inexperienced you are with the world & no matter what kind of people you meet in the journey of life, these instances will only give you strength in the end! And this very strength is necessary for girls today to fulfill our bigger dreams.
