International Dance Day: 7 Hilariously Bad Choreographed Songs From Bollywood That You Should Totally Check Out (Watch Videos)

In Happy New Year, a movie about atrociously bad dancers passing themselves off as pros, Deepika Padukone proclaims 'Dance na ek puja hai ... dance ek art hai art!" (Dance is worship ... dance is an art). Well, no argument there! Dance as an art form has seen evolutions and branchings of various nature all across the world. From the ballet in Europe to the kathak in India, there is so much to explore in the world of dance. Why, since we started this article in Bollywood, just think of how the choreography of songs has improved over the years. ABCD 3 First Poster Out and Varun Dhawan is The #1 Rule Breaker!

Thanks to the emergence of actors who are also fine dancers like Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor etc, the dance songs in Bollywood feel so polished these days. Sure, there is Salman Khan does his own thing, but even that has its own dedicated fan base. However, things were not so rosy in the past.

Yup, there was terrific dancers like Govinda, Jaaved Jaaferi and Madhuri Dixit, but most of the actors (especially the male ones) had two left feet when it came to dancing. And it is not the actors, even the choreography was quite unimaginative, and mostly was about rubbing and grinding.

In this special feature on International Dance Day, we look at 7 (out of many) hilariously choreographed dance songs in Bollywood that will make you laugh your guts out!

Yaara O Yaara (Jeet)

The Culprit: Sunny Deol

Let's start with a classic! I pity the actresses of the '90s (usually, really good dancers) who have to lower their skills to catch up to their awesomely-bad-at-dancing male co-stars. Like in this infamously iconic song, where poor Karisma Kapoor tries her best to not fall off the seismic aftershocks of Sunny Deol trying to ape all the Hulk moves! Sunny Deol Joins BJP! 7 Movie Dialogues Sunny Paaji Must Use in His Election Speeches and Where To Use Them!

Saawariya Re (Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaaye)

The Culprit: Everyone

Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaaye is a bad movie with some bad performances, but it has a couple of really good songs. But those songs also suffer from bad choreography. I have adjusted myself to the life of seeing Salman's dance steps. But please do help me figure out what exactly Jackie Shroff and Mohnish Behl are trying to do here!

The Rat Song (Yaar Gaddar)

The Culprit: Saif Ali Khan

All the rats in the world would commit suicide after watching this! If the sexually suggestive lyrics are not gaudy enough, Saif Ali Khan wearing a paunch and doing some atrocious moves will really make your day! What's even worse is that Saif is not really a bad dancer when there is some good choreography involved! Which, unfortunately, is not the case with this 'Rat Song'.

Tohfa Tohfa Laya Laya (Tohfa)

The Culprit: Jeetendra (and unfortunately, Jaya Pradha)

Oh damn! Jeetendra trying to do some cool moves in the above song is like a kid trying to figure out callisthenics.

Oh Gori Tu Chali Kahan (Khauff)

The Culprit: Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt has swag, alright! But no amount of swag could make up for the stiffness that he displays in the above song.

Dhoom 3 Title Track

The Culprit: Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan is called Mr Perfectionist for many reasons. But dancing is not one of them. Who thought it was a good idea to make Aamir do a tap dance and think he could pull it off! Sure, the film made a lot of money at the box office, but Aamir's attempt to make noise with his feet while looking totally uncomfortable is one of his lowest moments.

Exercise (Prem Aggan)

The Culprit: Everyone Again!

We really need to thank standup comedians, Kanan Gill and Biswa Rath, for reintroducing us to this 'Exercise' song in their Pretentious Movie Reviews, that no gym in the world would dare to play!
