When asked about the appeal of the horror-comedy genre, Vidya Balan noted that it allows audiences to experience suspense and humour together, which offers a unique thrill. “I think it’s the thrill and at the same time you break out into a nervous laughter. I think that’s what people are enjoying.” She also added, “People just want to watch light stuff because there is enough dukh dard (grief and agony) in the world, paise de kar aur tension nahi lena hai, aur stress nahi lena hai (people don’t want to pay to get tension or stressed).
