After all the show-sha by the IIFA 2018 Awards ceremony this year, they have finally managed to ‘trump’ all the other award shows. The function that took place in Bangkok was star studded and music-loaded. Actors like Riteish Deshmukh, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Rekha, Kriti Sanon, Shraddha Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, Bobby Deol, Lulia Vantur graced the show with their glamorous appearances. Like always, the show had some relatively funny jokes here and there and regular shimmery performances. The highlight of the show was Rekha’s beautiful performance, once again proving to the world that age is just a number.

However, despite no presence of the mighty Khans like Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan or Salman Khan, the show grabbed the position and IIFA organisers are super proud of it. Official Twitter handle of IIFA tweeted, “Adding another jewel to our crown, #IIFA2018 trumps all other shows to become the most watched and highest rated Award Event this year. Read on to know what made us top the list.” The show garnered 2.25 rating making it the highest amongst others including Zee cine awards, Gold awards or Screen awards.

IIFA Awards Raj Nayak, COO, Viacom 18 shared: “We are extremely happy with our association with IIFA. It is the highest rated event of the year and the viewership has grown from 2.8 million to 5.9 million which is almost double than the previous year.”

Well, this will definitely give a boost to the award function to buck up next year too. However, we hope to see something really fresh and a bit content driven ceremony rather than regular dance, acts and jokes. After all, it has a responsibility for being the highest rated show!
