Hollywood stars Kerry Washington and Idris Elba helped salute friend Tyler Perry as the actor and writer unveiled a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Washington and Elba appeared in his films Peeples and Daddy's Little Girls, respectively. After the ceremony, Kerry took to Instagram and wrote: "Nobody is more deserving of this than you @tylerperry. Thank you for shining so brightly, for guiding our paths, and for creating new constellations." Perry is also a playwright, filmmaker and a comedian. Idris Elba is a Part of Taylor Swift’s ‘London Boy’ Song… Enough Said!

Perry wrote and produced many stage plays during the 1990s and early 2000s. Perry has developed several television series, most notably "Tyler Perry's House of Payne", which ran for eight seasons. He has additionally acted in films not directed or produced by himself, including as Admiral Barnett in Star Trek (2009), the pivotal character in "Alex Cross", Tanner Bolt in Gone , Baxter Stockman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the  and Colin Powell in Vice.
