The 1993 film Darr was one of the movies that played its part in establishing Shah Rukh Khan as a superstar. Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna has him play a young rich man obsessed with a PYT, played by Priya Banerjee. Only that she is in love with someone else, played by Sameer Kochar, and this brings the rich guy to turn into an obsessive murderous stalker. Well, that's what the trailer of Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna, directed by Lalit Mohan, tells us!

Going by the promo, we don't know if the similarities between Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna and Darr are deliberate. For in many portions of the trailer, Karanvir Bohra is wearing a similar brown jacket that SRK had worn in the Yash Chopra film. There is also a blink-and-you-miss cameo from Juhi Chawla in the trailer, who, as you know, was the female lead in Darr. So it is upto you, readers, to decide if a reboot of Darr was really needed, considering that the original film is still fresh in our minds.

Interestingly, Yash Raj Films had plans to reboot Darr themselves as a web-series. This project, titled Darr 2.0, would have been about the dangers of cyber-stalking.

Speaking more about Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna's main lead, Karanvir Bohra, this isn't his debut film, contrary to certain reports. Karanvir Bohra had first played a young Sanjay Dutt in the 1990 film, Tejaa. As an adult, his Bollywood debut was Kismat Konnection, where he played a rival to Shahid Kapoor's character. On the big screen, Karanvir Bohra was last seen in the 2017 film Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi. Now it is left to see if Karanvir can recreate the SRK magic with Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna.
