Is Sonakshi Sinha starring in a sports film next? Reports suggest the Kalank star may have been roped in the Deepa Malik biopic.
Sports biopics seem to be a trend in Bollywood currently. From Parineeti Chopra starring in the Saina Nehwal biopic to Ranveer Singh and team working on 83, currently, it seems playing a Sports personality seems to be on the top of the list for all actors. The latest to join the bandwagon may be Sonakshi Sinha. As per reports, Sonakshi Sinha may have been roped in to play the role of Paralympic Silver medalist, Deepa Malik. Deepa Malik has been an inspiration to many and the list of her achievements is beyond imagination. Apart from being the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympic games, Malik has also won 54 National Gold medals. At the international level, Deepa has made India proud after bagging 13 medals in swimming, shot put and javelin.
Sonakshi first met the athlete at a 2016 event and the duo seemed to have found an instant connection. Sonakshi had even taken to Twitter saying it was a fangirl moment for her meeting Malik. She wrote, "Ma'am it was a fan moment for me!!! thank you for being you and radiating so much positivity! Truly an inspiration @DeepaAthlete." If Sonakshi indeed does take up this role, this will be one of the most challenging roles she has played till now. The actress was last seen in Dharma Productions' Kalank, which did not perform well at the box office. Among Sonakshi's upcoming films, there's another big budget film, Dabangg 3. In both Kalank and the Dabangg franchise, the actress has been seen in simpler roles. While Sonakshi has pulled off the action in films like Akira before, it will be interesting to see how she pulls off a sporty role next.
