Sonakshi Sinha is playing the main female lead in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, the sequel to the 2016 sleeper hit, Happy Bhaag Jayegi. Diana Penty was the Happy in the first movie and she is there in the sequel. But Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi focuses on the runaway adventures of the new Happy in a Chinese town, played by Sonakshi. Thankfully, there is the ever reliable Jimmy Sheirgill who is following her to China, as he did with the other Happy in the first film. The movie also stars Jassi Gill, Piyush Mishra and Ali Fazal.
We have this new, and irritating trend, of recreating old songs and Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is no exception to this. So the song in question is Chin Chin Chu, which is recreated from the yesteryear hit track, Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu from the 1958 film Howrah Bridge. While the song, reprised by Sohail Sen with lyrics by Mudassar Aziz, is nothing to crow about, what's special about the new version is that Sonakshi and Jassi have themselves sung it.
Also, the video is damn funny, as the lead characters land in a Chinese gangster club and have to sing their way out of danger. Watch the video here -
Speaking of the movie, Diana had recently said in an interview, "If you like the first one, you will also like the second one. It’s the same space. It is funny, crazy and sweet. It’s a joyride. It is funnier than the first one. It feels good that a film is good enough for the makers to consider a part two. I feel proud when I think of that. It’s a unique story and director Mudassar Aziz really aced it. I feel it is even funnier than the first one."
Presented by Eros International and Aanand L Rai, A Colour Yellow Production, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi hits the theatres on August 24, 2018.
