His real name isn't Jackie but Jaikishen Kakubai Shroff. It was Subhash Ghai who asked him to change his onscreen before he made his Bollywood debut with Hero.
Not just Bollywood, Jackie has also acted in Bengali, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu films and essayed a variety of roles right from being the lead actor to being a villain. Jackie has also explored the comedy genre. He has also played a ghost in Bhoot Uncle.
The actor made his Bollywood debut in 1973, technically but his first full- fledged role was in Hero, which released in 1983. After the movie went on to become a blockbuster hit, Jackie and Subhash Ghai became one superhit actor- director duo. After that, there was no looking back for Apna Bhidu.
