Abhishek Bachchan has been very choosy about the roles he does off late. The underrated actor has somehow still been in the shadow of his father, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. In his career of making a lasting impression in the industry, he has undergone several ups and downs. While the actor has tried different genres in his career span, the audience mostly prefers him in the serious drama films as compared to the comic capers or action ones. The actor born on 5th February 1976, turns 42 years old today. On his birthday, let us take a look at his best performances, which make us want to see more of him on the screen.

1. Bunty Aur Babli (2005)

If there is one quirky role we have seen and enjoyed the actor in, it has to be Bunty Aur Babli. We got to see a lot of moods and personalities, all in one film. The film directed by Shaad Ali saw so much versatility portrayed by such comfort. Plus his pairing with Rani Mukherjee and their crackling chemistry made it a delight to watch them. Abhishek played the simpleton guy as well as the flamboyant character with ease. Not only was the movie entertaining but it was the first-of-a-kind thing we saw Abhishek doing and loved him for it.

2. Guru (2007):

A drama film that was loosely based on the life of business Dhirubhai Ambani, has to be one of the finest performances of the actor. The film was directed by Mani Ratnam and was praised by critics and audiences alike. Abhishek was impressive in every frame and the film even gave him a nomination of Best Actor by Filmfare. Along with Abhishek there was Aishwarya playing his wife on screen, which added to the curiosity of their fans. Playing a couple that battles the odds to make it big, they complimented each others’ performances so well.

3. Paa (2009):

Abhishek maybe shadowed by his father at all times, but in Paa, Abhishek took over the role of playing father to his real-life father, so brilliantly. The film emphasized on a father-son relationship and it was the best with the role reversal. The film was critically acclaimed and won many awards as well. Abhishek called it a role of a lifetime and played it like one. The sweet moments they displayed on the screen, tugged with the audiences’ hearts very well.

Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in the multi-starrer Housefull 3. The actor, however, has an interesting line-up of movies that he is working on. There is Ram Gopal Verma’s Arrest, Prabhu Deva’s collaboration Lefty, Priyadarshan’s tentatively titled Bachchan Singh and one untitled film by Ronnie Screwvala. We hope the actor does more and more fulfilling work ahead and has a wonderful year to cherish in his personal and professional life both. Happy Birthday, Abhishek!
