In a shocking news for all Priyanka Chopra fans, her international series Quantico got the axe from ABC network owing to dwindling ratings. While the show was a hit in India, especially in Priyanka's huge fanbase, the ratings gave a different picture. The decline in the ratings even in the second season had nearly cancelled the show. But Quantico came back for the third season in a new setting and shorter episodes hoping to gain its fan-base back.

However, even with its truncated episode-run and fresh milieu, the third season of Quantico failed to do any wonders with its ratings and hence got the axe. The only way for the show to get a fourth season is if some other channel or streaming service like Netflix buys the rights. But with the show's poor critical consensus, that is nigh impossible.

The real question is, has Priyanka Chopra foreseen the cancellation of the show which prompted the return to Bollywood? As you might be aware, she is playing the main female lead in Salman Khan's Bharat, that is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Ever since that news broke out, people have been wondering why Priyanka has given priority to Bharat over Quantico. Can't blame them for speculating since Priyanka has never taken any acting assignments in Bollywood since Quantico started. However, when the news came out that the show might face the axe over poor ratings when in its second season, Priyanka was looking at more Bollywood scripts then. So the current change in the stance and the cancellation of the show look to be all linked.

Priyanka's Hollywood career is also not exactly as proficient as her Bollywood innings. Her big-ticket movie, Baywatch, was a huge dud at the box office, and she has supporting roles in two indie flicks, A Kid Like Jake and Isn't It Romantic?. There were some reports about Priyanka in talks for having her own talk show, but before that materialises, the smart move is to return to your kingdom and rule again. And Salman Khan's Bharat seems the right opportunity.

Sure, we will miss Priyanka Chopra as Alex Parrish, but we would rather have her in Bollywood getting meaty roles than do less substantial parts in Hollywood flicks! Quantico meanwhile will continue its third season that ends in June.
