Gully Boy's Apna Time Aayega to Kabir Singh's Bekhayali: Best Original Bollywood Songs in First Half of 2019 That Swiftly Made Way To Our Playlist (Watch Videos)

The first half of 2018 is over and we are taking a look back at what Bollywood gave us in these six months. When it comes to songs, the makers have given to us some really good numbers to remember for the lifetime. Amid the annoying trend of remakes, these original songs saved original Bollywood music from sinking.

Bollywood has been blessed with plenty of musicians. However, how many of those get a chance to show it through these new films? 2019 until now has not been different. If you are a true music lover, you won’t fail to notice that the amount of good originals has declined drastically. They naturally got replaced by the tangy remakes of the previously made good songs by legends. Yes, some of them did go well with the audience. But as Bollywood has always been synonymous with good songs, we wonder if the reputation is soon to get erased. From Gully Boy to Article 15, 7 Bollywood Movies That Impressed Us in the First Half of 2019.

However, to our delight, some of the makers indeed are conscious of keeping the audience entertained with fresh content. The first six months of 2019 did see a few great songs which also got popular in no time. Here are a few ones who made it to the playlists of the Bollywood-music lovers instantly. Note that we have not included the rehashes as we still hope to see this list grow in the next half of the year! Sunil Grover in Bharat, Siddhant Chaturvedi in Gully Boy – 10 Standout Performances in First Half of 2019 Who Stole the Show From the Leads.

Apna Time Aayega (Gully Boy)-

The theme of the Ranveer Singh starrer itself is about rap music. Clearly, the year started with a bang with this upbeat and motivational rap. This was like a fresh breath of air with no mention of booze or girls in the genre. Also, Ranveer turned into a rapper for this number.

Ve Maahi (Kesari)-

The sweet and romantic song features Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra. The slow song feels like a cool breeze amid this otherwise serious film based on the battle of Saragarhi. Arijit Singh and Asees Kaur were too good! What’s surprising is that the music is given by Tanishk Bagchi and the lyrics too. A name which is synonyms to remakes of Bollywood.

Kalank and First Class (Kalank)-

Kalank Title Track

First Class

Although the movie tanked terribly, one cannot simply ignore the beautiful songs weaved in the film. Firstly, Kalank’s title track by Arijit Singh has been one of the best originals this year. It’s hummable and melodious, like one of those songs from early 2000 films by KJO. On the other hand, "First Class", again by Arijit Singh is a mix of good music plus beats plus dance. It had to be a chartbuster.

Chashni and Slow Motion (Bharat)-

Chashni Song

Slow Motion

Trust Salman Khan when it comes to the songs of his films. The man knows that the way to the audience’s heart is good music. This time too he did not go wrong with it as the film gave us a heart-warming song like "Chashni." With great visuals, sensational chemistry between Salman and Katrina, the track had to steal hearts. On the other hand, "Slow Motion" is somewhat like "440 Volt" song from Sultan minus Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Disha’s yellow saree and hot moves were enough to get this catchy song in the minds of the audience.

Hook Up Song (Student Of The Year 2)-

Many of you might just disregard the song, but trust me when I say that it has gone down well with the generation. Even though the movie is a forgettable and regrettable experience, this song has Alia Bhatt’s cameo. This is the only song from the film that will get stuck into your head only and only for its catchy, upbeat music.

Jugraafiya (Super 30)-

The song is like any typical Ajay-Atul composition. Amitabh Bhattacharya has added his lyrics to it, only to make it lighter. If you are an ardent fan of this composer duo, you will find it similar to many of his past songs in Hindi and Marathi films. Also, the song marks the wonderful reunion of "Bairi Piya" singers (Devdas) Shreya Ghoshal and Udit Narayan.

Kabir Singh Music Album-

Can we pick one song from this blockbuster? Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s chemistry is highly depended on the music of the film. Songs like "Bekhayali," "Kaise Hua," "Mere Sohneya," "Tera Ban Jaunga," "Pehla Pyaar," "Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage" are terrific. They not just fit perfectly in the scenes but are also worth playing on loop. Composers Sachet-Parampara, Vishal Mishra, Akhil Sachdeva, Amaal Malik and Mithoon united to give this amazing music album.
