Gully Boy has been selected as India's official entry to Oscars 2020. While Bollywood is overjoyed by the selection, people on Twitter are divided. That's because there were many other credible movies on the list which deserved an equal place. The other films in the running were Uri: The Surgical Strike, Badhaai Ho, Andhadhun, Article 15, Badla, Kesari, The Tashkent Files, Dear Comrade, Vada Chennai, Super Deluxe, Parvathy's Uyare among others. After Gully Boy Enters Oscars 2020, Ranveer Singh Says 'Will Strive to Make Flag of Hindi Cinema Fly High'
So you can imagine why Twitterverse isn't too kicked about this selection. While some are giving valid reasons for this choice, others feel India would have had a better chance if some other film had made the cut.

Its wonderful that #Gullyboy has been nominated for the Oscars but personally I think #Article 15 deserved the nomination instead, as it showcases the plight of backward communities in rural India in such an impactful manner. #equality #justice

#GullyBoy film is the official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards. I think India could have done better. I loved Gully Boy. But for god sake it is not an Oscar material.

Well, India's Oscar entry always hits headlines. Rajkummar Rao's Newton and Rima Das' Village Rockstars, which enjoyed high praises, crashed out of the race. So it's time to let Gully Boy be. You never know, it might just make the cut!
