The first look of Zoya Akhtar’s much-anticipated film, Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt revealed on February 10. And as expected, it has become the biggest talking point on the micro-blogging platform Twitter. The conversation among netizens is no exaggeration as Gully Boy’s lead pair does indeed evoke a bag of mixed reactions. Both Ranveer and Alia are grim-faced and in fact look quite unhappy and regretful. Obviously, as of now, we cannot know the reason behind their pensive moods but thankfully the release date of Gully Boy is February 14, 2019, aka on Valentine’s Day has also been announced to figure out the mystery.
After enjoying the much-deserved appreciation for his portrayal of Alauddin Khalji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh has officially moved on to his next project (thank god). The 32-year-old took to his Twitter account to share the poster of Gully Boy on Saturday that showed him, and Alia lost in deep thoughts. Singh used the release date, ‘14th February 2019 #gullyboy’ to caption the image. Yes, it means Gully Boy helmed by talented Zoya Akhtar is hitting theatres on the occasion of Valentine’s Day next year!

Apart from their serious demeanour, what caught Twitterati’s eyes is Alia Bhatt’s de-glam avatar. We have seen the versatile young star go plain in previous films such as Highway (2014) and Udta Punjab (2016), however, Alia’s head-scarfed look is certainly making her fans curious to know more about her role in the forthcoming film. If you notice carefully, one can see bruise marks on actress’ cheeks – yes, the suspense over her character is killing us.
As per early reports about the movie, Gully Boy is said to be based on the lives of Mumbai street rappers such as Divine and Naezy known for their song "Mere Gully Mein". Apart from Ranveer and Alia, super-talented actress, Kalki Koechlin is also in the film where she essays the role of a rapper. Comedian Sudesh Lehri is also in this film and we hope he is not wasted like his previous stint in Bollywood. Good luck, Gully Boy team!
