Akshay Kumar seems to be Karan Johar's blue-eyed boy these days. The superstar is currently shooting for Kesari, a historical film that is based on the true events of the Battle of Saragarhi. There were also speculations that Karan has signed Akshay for another film that will reunite him with his Tashan co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan. Recently during an interview with journalist Rajeev Masand, Akshay Kumar confirmed that movie is on and it is titled Good News.

Now Karan Johar's production house, Dharma Productions, has officially confirmed the film, along with the lead cast, director and release date. Along with Akshay and Kareena, the movie will also star Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. Good News is directed by Raj Mehta and is scheduled to release on July 19, 2019. Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films, is also involved in the film.

As per sources, the movie is based on a true incident and revolves around the subject of surrogacy. Akshay had confirmed the movie when he was asked by Masand about doing movies with only social issue in mind. He had said, "No... I am doing all kinds of movies. Now, I am shooting for Housefull 4 and that film is not going to deliver any social message. The only message it's going to give is that you should laugh more often. Similarly, I am doing Good News and there are many other things which I am doing which don't have anything to do with social cause."
