Akshay Kumar released the first look of Gold in a short video and it's completely patriotic. It's a film based on true events and sports. The video starts with a text asking everyone to stand up for the national anthem but they play the British national anthem instead. And then there's text asking how everyone felt standing up for England's national anthem. But then the video starts making sense as makers explain how Indians stood up for the British national anthem for 200 years until one man made everyone stand up for the Indian anthem. Now I'm a complete patriot at heart and got goosebumps when the video had Akshay Kumar taking out the national flag from his coat.
But my only problem was promoting the film/ a teaser by trying to spread a hatred of sorts. I mean, I was totally lost when the video said, "How do you feel standing up to this national anthem?" I mean, what was that about? A true patriot at heart should stand up respectfully for a national anthem no matter which country's it is! Though a lot of people might disagree with me on this. But I also understand the sentiments of this period drama based between 1933-1948.
Check out the first look of Akshay from Gold.
