Mouni Roy, who shot to fame with Ekta Kapoor's much-celebrated show Naagin, is currently riding high with the success of her silver-screen debut Gold starring Akshay Kumar. After bagging a role of a Bengali woman in Reema Kagti's Gold, where she essayed the role of Monobina — Akshay's wife in the film, the actress is all set to play the spunky, feisty Gujarati hottie in her next — Made In China.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the actress has started taking Gujarati lessons to perfect her act of a Gujarati wife to Rajkummar Rao's businessman character in the film. In a statement to the daily, the actress said, "Rajkummar and I have started taking extensive Gujarati lessons and diction classes."

Helmed by Mikhil Musale, Made In China will trace the life of a struggling Gujarati businessman, whose wife (played by Mouni) pushes him to go to China to expand his business. The film is bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan and is expected to roll next month. Mouni hopes to pick up the language and the accent before the film goes on floors.

The actress further added, "Learning Gujarati is a completely new zone for me. I should be able to manage it as I can parrot lines easily — if you say something in a language foreign to me, I can usually pick it up and repeat it. We will also have somebody on the set monitoring our diction and dialogue delivery."

Talking about her experience of learning to work on her dialect as she played a Bengali character in her previous outing opposite Akshay Kumar, the actress told the daily, "I found it difficult to learn the style, because the way I speak Hindi in the movie is not how Bengalis tend to talk. There was a chance of it sounding caricaturish or over-the-top. So I would frequently call up my mother and ask her to speak in Hindi with me, and then emulate her for the cameras."

On the personal front, Mouni Roy, who was rumoured to be dating Devon Ke Dev Mahadev co-star Mohit Raina for about seven years, is single. Recently, she was in the news for her break-up with the actor. Mouni, in a statement to media, said, "I am single and have been so for a long time. Mohit and I are not even friends."

On the professional front, Mouni Roy is climbing up the success ladder and has quite a few projects in her kitty, including Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra and John Abraham's spy thriller RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter. Watch this space for further updates.
