Actress Genelia D'Souza was born on August 6, 1987 in Mumbai. Coming from a Mangalorean Catholic family, she never thought of pursuing a career in movies. But her life changed after she did a commercial of Parker Pen with megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The actress made her debut in 2003 with Tujhe Meri Kasam in Bollywood. Riteish Deshmukh was her co-star. She soon moved to the South where she became a leading lady with successive blockbusters. The actress recalled how moving down to South was looked down upon in those days. 'Boys'

‘Bommarillu’

This 2006 movie was a romantic-comedy with great performances by Siddharth, Genelia D'Souza and Prakash Raj. It was about a son who is upset with his father due to his helicopter style of parenting. Bommarillu was a huge success overseas. Both the actors won awards for this film.

‘Ready’

This 2008 movie won three Nandi Awards. Ram Pothineni played the role of Chandu, a guy who is always ready to help someone. Genelia D'Souza was in the role of Pooja, an NRI who falls for Chandu in odd circumstances. There was a lot of comedy and family drama in this entertaining movie. Brahmanandam and Nassar were parts of the movie too.

‘Satyam’

This film came out in 2003, the same year as Tujhe Meri Kasam. Satyam was a huge blockbuster and gave Genelia D'Souza a great start in the Telugu movie industry. Sumanth was the leading man of the film.
