Now that Ranveer Singh starrer 83, which is on Team Kapil Dev lifting the World Cup in 1983, is coming to the theatres near you on April 10, 2020 and while the fans eagerly waiting to see Ranveer portray the role of Kapil Dev in the upcoming film, we bring to you six cricketers who have acted in films.

Kapil Dev (World Cups Played: 1979, 1983, 1987, 1992)
Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev, one of India's most successful captains, has primarily worked in Tamil, Malayalam and Bollywood films. Fondly known as Haryana Hurricane, Kapil has played bit-part roles in quite a few movies. He had a cameo in several films such as Stumped, Iqbal, Aryan - The Unbreakable and Mujhse Shaadi Karogii.
Ajay Jadeja (World Cups Played: 1996)
Former Indian batsman Ajay Jadeja, who represented India from 1992-2000, was considered to be one of the best fielders, India ever had in the game of cricket. However, the match-fixing scandal put a tragic end to his cricketing career. But that did not stop him as he tried his luck in Bollywood with the film, Khel, (that released in 2003) which also starred Sunil Shetty, Celina Jaitley, and Sunny Deol.
Salil Ankola (World Cups Played: 1996)
For most of you, who do not follow cricket, might know Salil Ankola only as an actor. But this former cricketer has played one Test match and twenty 'One Day Internationals (ODIs)' from 1989 to 1997 for India. However, Salil later went on to become an actor after a brief cricketing stint and managed to make a place for himself on Indian television. He has also starrer in films like Kurukshetra (2000), Pitaah (2002), Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne (2003), Silence Please...The Dressing Room (2004), Riwayat (2012), among others.
Vinod Kambli (World Cups Played: 1992, 1996)
Vinod Kambli, who played for India as a middle-order batsman, has also appeared as an actor in few films. He has starred in films like Annarth (2002), Pal Pal Dil Ke Ssaat (2009) and Miss India (2004).
Syed Kirmani (World Cups Played: 1974, 1983) Sandeep Patil (World Cups Played: 1983)
Syed Kirmani and Sandeep Patil, former Indian cricketers, made their Bollywood debut with Kabhie Ajnabi The, a 1985 release. The film stars Sandeep Patil as the protagonist and Syed Kirmani as one of the antagonists. Syed has also done a cameo role in a Malayalam film titled Mazhavillinattam Vare.
