One of the biggest and most talked about events this year in the West would be the #MeToo movement. While women from other parts of the world raised their voice against sexual harassment, thanks to the #MeToo movement, Bollywood is yet to take a stand against it. Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto, who has done quite a remarkable work in Hollywood, revealed why she thinks that Bollywood might never point fingers at sexual offenders. #Metoo Activist Asia Argento Settles Her Own Sexual Assault Case By Paying the Victim USD 380K.

In an interview recently, the actress was quoted saying, “I refuse to work with someone that I know is a repeat offender. I wish I could do the same here (in India). The whole MeToo movement in the west was possible because there was a lot of support, and a lot of research went into it.”

“We all know who the people are in India. It is the same way everyone knew it was Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood, but someone had the courage, and in this case Ronan Farrow (journalist with The New Yorker) to get deep into his research and get support for these women and support them when that story would come out. You tell me one journalist in India who would do that and put his career on the line,” she added further.

The #MeToo movement began with allegations of sexual harassment and rape against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and triggered a global movement. It eventually led to structural changes in Hollywood and the launch of the Time’s Up campaign.
