Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has expressed a deep admiration for his father Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar’s iconic film, Sholay. During a promotional video for the duo’s documentary, Angry Young Men, released on Prime Video, host Farah Khan inquired about the Salim-Javed film Salman would most like to revisit. During the round table discussion, Salman expressed his enthusiasm for remaking two iconic Salim-Javed films: Sholay and Deewar. When Farah asked him which role he would prefer to play from Sholay, Jai (played by Amitabh Bachchan) or Veeru (played by Dharmendra), Salman quickly responded by saying, "I can play both Jai and Veeru. During the conversation, Salim Khan, the legendary co-writer of Sholay with Javed Akhtar, shared a captivating anecdote. He revealed how the iconic villain Gabbar Singh's character was every male actor's fave role. “Everyone in the film’s star cast went to Ramesh Sippy personally to tell him, ‘I want to do this role,’” Salim said. Amjad Khan played Gabbar Singh in Sholay.
