Mumbai, Aug 06: Bollywood filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra was overwhelmed after a fan thanked him for making a film like, 'Fanney Khan'.

'Fanney Khan' touches upon the issue of fat shaming, in the film newcomer Pihu Sand portrays the plight of a young girl who aspires to be a singer but faces rejection due to being overweight. The fan who took to social media to thank Mehra said she has faced fat shaming in the past.

Alina Saha, the fan who uploaded a video on her Twitter handle to thank the filmmaker, wrote, "I watched Fanney Khan and I was very touched by Lata's story. 'Fanney Khan' is a one of its kind musical comedy, revolving around a father who wishes to fulfill his daughter's dream of becoming a singer. The film is directed by Atul Manjrekar; and stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Anil Kapoor, in lead roles.
